Julie Stockbridge

Hospital Administrator

Julie joined Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital when we first opened in 2005. Prior to that, she worked with advertising agencies in the greater Boston area for 19 years. She has had extensive training working with clients in customer service and sales. Julie is certified in Reiki II and Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT), two modalities she enjoys working with to help animals. Julie resides with her husband and their Meyer’s parrot, Butch. Some of her interests include yoga, reading, jig saw puzzles, figure ice skating, and hiking.

Jeffrey Frechette

PHR, Practice Manager

Jeffrey graduated from Keene State College with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a minor in sociology in 2007. He had over eight years of customer service experience working in both retail and hospitality before joining our team. He received his PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification in May 2014. While he loves all animals, he has a special interest in exotics and has owned or fostered more exotic pets than he can count. Jeffrey currently has two adorable mixed breed dogs named Kafka and Ophelia.

Kerri Staruk

Certified Veterinary Technician and Lead Technician/Inventory Manager

Kerri joined our team in 2008 after aspiring to be part of the veterinary world. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, in 2011, where she studied biology and psychology. In 2014, she received her master’s degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts. She is particularly interested in parasitology and microbiology. Kerri passed the Veterinary Technician National Examination in 2012 to become a certified veterinary technician. She is a member of NHVTA, NAVTA, and ASM.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, eating sushi, and traveling. She shares her home with Fiona Darla Ralphina Delaney, a red-footed tortoise; a rescue canary named Eduardo; two White’s tree frogs, Mulder and Scully; and a golden retriever named Stanley.

Sara Cantara

Veterinary Technician

Sara has been working as a veterinary technician since 2001 and joined our team in 2010. She has a strong interest in radiology and phlebotomy and loves to work with exotics. Her hobbies include art, outdoor activities, and horse training and riding. She has a variety of pets at home, including a dog, three cats, two horses, and one leopard gecko.

Brittany Hebert

Client Service Specialist

Brittany has been working in the veterinary field since 2011 and joined our team in 2014. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2011. She strives for excellent client care and has been working in customer service since 2006. On her off time, Brittany enjoys anything hockey related and listening to live music. She currently has a turtle named Marty McFly, a beautiful terrier mix named Torpedo, and a spunky kitty named Josie.

Carrie Hinkle

Veterinary Technician

Carrie is a delightful addition to our team! She is originally from Kentucky and moved to New England in 2004. She joined us in 2015 and has been a veterinary technician for 22 years. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and walks on the beach to collect sand for her hermit crabs. She also has a fun loving cat and a huge frog. Carrie is most interested in customer service and hands-on animal care. You may recognize her from your check in, taking history and caring for your animal friends.

Megan Deering

Veterinary Technician

Megan has been a Veterinary Technician for 27 years which has allowed her  the opportunity to work in many different aspects of veterinary medicine. Her main passions are surgical assistance and nursing care for hospitalized patients.

When not working, Megan is busy taking her son to all of his sporting events. They both enjoy the beach and outdoor activities. Megan has a horse retired in VA and a big lazy cat named Umpi who enjoys laying around the house.

Aj Kirlis

Technician Assistant

Aj graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a focus in comparative anatomy and physiology. He also obtained a master’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from the same institution in 2012. Prior to coming to Canobie, Aj worked for Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Center for Neurological Diseases in Boston, researching multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases before coming back to the veterinary world in 2016. In his free time, he practices martial arts (which he’s done for more than eight years) and enjoys running.

Amy Joyce

Veterinary Technician

Amy recently moved back to NH after living in California for six years. She started in the veterinary field in 2002 and has refined her technician skills throughout the years. Having experience in emergency vet as well as day practice medicine allows her to have a well-rounded balance of technician skills. Amy also worked as a nursing assistant on the human side for over 10 years, but decided that she loved animals more! She moved back from California in 2016, bringing along all of her pets (five dogs and a cat) along with her two horses. When she isn’t working, she is taking care of all her animals at home. Amy enjoys horseback riding, bringing her dogs on walks, hiking, swimming, cooking, art, and anything that has to do with the outdoors.

Sarah Schwartz

Veterinary Technician

Sarah has been working in the veterinary field since 2005, where she started as a veterinary assistant. In 2012 she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and in 2014, a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of New Hampshire. During her tenure at UNH, Sarah had the opportunity to intern as a veterinary technician at the New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth MA, New England Aquarium in Boston MA, and assisted other students in running a string of Dairy Cows at the UNH Dairy Farm. She has also worked as a veterinary technician at other small animal hospitals in Southern New Hampshire and joined our team in 2015. In her free time, Sarah spends time with her husband and their five cats, Wally, Leonidas, Emmett, Alice and Eva.

Scott Appleman

Technician Assistant

Scott has worked in the pet industry for nine years. In addition to working at veterinary hospitals, he has worked at two pet stores in New Hampshire. He joined our team in 2015 and also works for Rockingham Emergency Veterinary Hospital. Scott has a special interest in exotics. In his spare time, he trains in martial arts (Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu) and hangs out with his cat, Sammi.

Shannon Staruk

Veterinary Assistant

Shannon has been a part of our team since 2011. She is a student at UMass Lowell and is looking to pursue a career in the sciences. Shannon enjoys being around animals here at Canobie Vet and at home with her golden retriever, Stanley. Like her sister, Kerri, she enjoys sushi and traveling.

Nicole Kinneen

Technician Assistant

Nikki came to Canobie Lake Vet as an intern during her senior year of high school. She always knew she wanted a career in veterinary medicine. She then joined our team in 2013 after graduating. Nikki is currently in the veterinary technology program at Mount Ida College and will be graduating with her bachelor’s in May of 2017. She enjoys working with all types of animals and particularly loves the experience with exotics. When home, Nikki spends her time with her chinchilla, Artemis, and her dog, Bia. She has also spent time volunteering for HSVMA-RAVS and took a study abroad course to Belize to broaden her knowledge of veterinary medicine. Nikki looks forward to taking the VTNE and becoming a certified veterinary technician in the future.

Katie Keane

Veterinary Assistant

Katie’s lifelong love of animals and her aspirations to work in the field of veterinary medicine brought her to Canobie Lake Vet in 2014. After graduating from Campbell High School in 2015, Katie started her pre-veterinary medicine program at the University of Rhode Island. She enjoys working with all animals large and small. She is a member of the URI Ram Marching Band as a flute player and the Animal and Veterinary Science Club, along with other academic and service organizations. Despite her rigorous college schedule, Katie looks forward to working at Canobie Lake Vet every spare weekend or break. Her love of animals is indulged whenever she is home with her pets Tyler and Bruin, both golden retrievers, and her cat, Jack.
