End-of-Life Pet Care

Pets give us unconditional love and keep us company when we’re alone. They’re our loyal companions and source of joy. We wish they could live forever, but when a pet is suffering, sometimes putting him down is the best choice. At Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital in Windham, we understand that your pet is a beloved member of your family and that you want his final days to be comfortable. That’s why we offer end-of-life care services, including hospice care and euthanasia, with your pet’s best interest in mind. We can also help you make the best end-of-life decisions for your pet, you, and your family.

End-of-Life Pet Care in WindhamIn-Home Pet Hospice (Comfort) Care

Hospice care is a service that involves providing comfort for terminally ill pets when treatment is no longer effective in improving their quality of life. It involves palliative (comfort) care only and is designed to help you prepare for your pet’s final days, whether those days are before a natural death or before euthanasia. We offer in-home hospice care in a compassionate manner that’s specific to your pet’s needs. We also provide education on your pet’s condition, as this is the most important aspect of hospice care.

In-Home Pet Euthanasia

If you and your family decide that it’s time to say goodbye to your pet, we offer in-office euthanasia as an option. Since we know how important it is for your pet to be as comfortable as possible in his final moments, we also offer at-home euthanasia. With this option, your pet can relax in his favorite place, whether it’s on the living room sofa or on his bed. We’ll provide you with as little or as much information as you’d like about the euthanasia process and give you information about aftercare (cremation or burial) as well.
